Department of Animation, VFX & Gaming is equipped with world-class laboratories and apparatus. Various labs housed by the department are:
Visual effects is the process by which imagery is created or manipulated for a film that cannot be accomplished during live action shot in film-making. In the VFX Lab, students learn various VFX software(s) like Nuke, Mocha, Premiere Pro and more.
In 2D Lab, students learn about the various 2D software(s) like Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, CorelDRAW and more.
3D animation is all about creating animation in a 3D workspace with 3D elements. In this lab, students get hands-on with various software(s) like 3Ds Max, Maya and Zbrush and more.
The Motion Capture Lab offers cutting-edge technology to capture realistic human movement for animation, VFX, and gaming. Equipped with industry-standard sensors and cameras, it bridges the gap between live performance and digital creation. Students gain hands-on experience in performance capture, character rigging, and real-time animation workflows.
Students at the VR Lab learn about virtual reality when they engage in interactive 3D environment development and design. A set of top-quality virtual reality headsets and motion-tracking equipment allows real-time simulation alongside game development. Students at the lab can find opportunities to innovate their storytelling techniques alongside experiential designs and immersive media approaches.
The Cel Animation Lab promotes traditional frame-by-frame 2D animation alongside the development of classical animation techniques for students. Students practice hand-drawn storytelling using a combination of lightboxes, peg bars, and digital tools. The lab provides a pathway that connects classic art principles with contemporary animatics systems.
The Chroma Lab operates with green screen technology to generate smooth visual effects along with computer-generated combinations. Through industry-standard software, students learn to blend real-life footage into digital backgrounds. The facility serves as a space where creativity joins forces with industrial VFX production methods.
The Gaming Lab serves as an advanced facility that functions to develop and test video games as well as produce gaming content. The Gaming Lab provides students access to modern PCs along with consoles as well as development platforms, including Unity and Unreal Engine, through which users can make 2D and 3D games. The joint efforts of students develop playable game prototypes in real time starting from their initial ideas.
