Hack Spark - 2025

HACK SPARK-2025 — Participated in this prestigious National Level Hackathon held at Khalsa College of Engineering, Amritsar. The event challenged participants to develop innovative solutions under time constraints, focusing on coding, problem-solving, and practical implementation of ideas. Representing our team, we collaborated effectively to design and present a functional prototype addressing real- world challenges. Our efforts and creativity were recognized as we were shortlisted among the top 12 teams, reflecting strong technical skills, teamwork, and innovative thinking.

HACKSAGON — A.B.V. Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management, Gwalior students Participated in HACKSAGON representing the MCA program at ABV-IIITM Gwalior. Engaged in intensive hackathon challenges focused on rapid prototyping, algorithmic problem-solving, and collaborative software development.

Android Fest App Challenge – A Celebration of Innovation!

The University Institute of Computing, successfully hosted the Android Fest App Challenge on 18-10-2024, bringing together 220 talented participants to design and develop innovative Android apps within a set timeframe. The competition encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and technical excellence, with participants showcasing their skills in front of an esteemed judging panel, including Mandeep Singh, Sobit Rehan, and Rahul Jain (National Informatics Center, Scientists). The winners were recognized with trophies, Google Cloud mugs, and certificates for their outstanding contributions. Participants found the event both challenging and rewarding, emphasizing the importance of practical learning and innovation in their tech journeys. The event truly embodied the university’s commitment to fostering talent, confidence, and entrepreneurial spirit among students.

UIC Sports Meet

It is organized every year, this event provides a platform for participants to showcase their skills across various sports and games, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie. With a wide range of activities, from track and field events to team sports, the Sports Meet encourages physical fitness, discipline, and perseverance among students. It serves as a reminder of the importance of sports in holistic development and creates lasting memories for all involved.

Commitment to Social Responsibility and Community Welfare

The institute remains committed to its Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) by actively engaging in various community welfare activities throughout the year. Key initiatives include environmental conservation efforts such as tree plantation drives, blood donation camps, and health and wellness workshops. Social welfare programs like Guru Ka Langar, the "Day of Giving" at a girls' shelter home, and a voters’ awareness rally reflect the institute’s dedication to community service. Iconic Symbols Quiz

The University Institute of Computing (UIC) organized a Iconic Symbols Quiz. This session was scheduled for the 21st of August 2024. This activity was organized by Mr. Parwan (E- 15436) and Ms. Ambika (E-16450), faculty coordinator of Digital Wizard Society, UIC.

Event Overview: In this engaging event, students will be shown images featuring iconic symbols of India's independence, such as the Ashoka Chakra, the National Flag, and famous landmarks like the Red Fort. The objective is for students to guess the name of each symbol. After each guess, a brief discussion will follow, where students will learn about the significance of these symbols in the context of India's freedom struggle. It is an educational way to celebrate Independence Day while reinforcing the values and heritage of India.

Eduverse (Departmental Competition)

The University Institute of Computing organized an event named as Eduverse under The VR Pioneers Society. In this Competition participants demonstrated a deep understanding of the subject “Future of AR/VR in education” engaging in lively exchanges that reflected thorough preparation and critical thinking. Audience members were actively engaged, posing insightful questions that further enriched the debate and challenged the debaters to think on their feet.

Engineering showcase

The University Institute of Computing organized an event named as Engineering Showcase under the The CODE FORGE SOCIETY on 16 SEPTEMBER,2024 at UIC NORTH CAMPUS,E1 Block. The primary objective of the Engineering Showcase was to provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and creativity by preparing a presentation on recent engineering advancements on the spot. The event aimed to encourage critical thinking, enhance presentation skills, and foster a spirit of innovation among participants. Participants were tasked with selecting recent engineering advancements as their topics and preparing PPT presentations within a limited timeframe. The spontaneous nature of the activity challenged students to think critically.

University Institute of Computing's Collaboration with Intel AI for Future Workforce Program

We are thrilled to announce that the University Institute of Computing has partnered with the Intel Digital Readiness Program to offer four cutting-edge courses under the MCA-AI ML program. This collaboration aims to equip students with industry-relevant skills in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The courses include AI for Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning and Neural Networks, Computer Vision and Image Processing, and AI Ethics and Governance. Through this initiative, students will gain hands-on experience with Intel’s advanced technologies, preparing them for impactful careers in AI and ML.

University Institute of Computing Hosts 6-Week 'AI for Future Workforce' Summer Program

University Institute of Computing has organized an 6-week "AI for Future Workforce" summer training program from 27 May 2024 to 5 July 2024. Students of MCA, MCA (CC&DevOps) and MCA AIML, BCA, BSC (CS) participated in the training programme. Participants gained comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in Artificial Intelligence, covering topics from AI fundamentals to advanced machine learning, deep learning, image processing, and Natural Language Processing (NLP). The program concluded with project presentations and evaluations that showcased the participants' skills and learning. Experts during the event were Ms. Pooja Yadav, Technical Trainer, INTEL, and Dr. Sumit Kushwaha, Assistant Professor, Chandigarh University, India.

Workshop on SpARk AR

University Institute of Computing organized 5-day workshop from 11-Nov-2022 to 15-Nov-2022 for students to offer training for Spark AR to the students of MCA, MCA AIML, MCA CC & DevOps, BCA and BCA ARVR. The speaker of the event was Ms. Anamika, Co-founder, Reskilll, Mr. Azkar, Co-founder, Reskilll, Mr. Sarthak, Head of Community and Mr. Lakshit. Meta Creator. Mr. Lakshit delivered the workshop on Spark AR studio and presented the working and benefits of Spark AR Studio. Mr. Azkar and Mr. Sarthak taught the students the process to create filters in Spark AR.

Workshop on Oracle Database

The professional society of University Institute of Computing organized a workshop “Oracle Database” for students on 28 October 2022. The expert speaker Mr. Amit Sharma, Certified DBA has more than 18+ years of experience in the IT industry in MNC’s like IBM, Bharti Airtel. He introduced the students with the Oracle12 databases and its industrial applications with examples. He conducted hands on how to create a database and access it as per our project needs. Further he discussed the roles and responsibilities of DBA (Database Administrator).

Expert Talk on Cloud Computing and its Applications

University Institute of Computing organized an Expert Talk on 28th FEBURARY 2023, in order to provide the students a better understanding of Cloud Computing in research areas. The talk was conducted by Mr. Ajay Sodhi, a renowned expert in the field of Cloud Computing. Mr. Ajay Sodhi started his presentation by defining Cloud Computing and explaining the various types of cloud services, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). He also spoke about the advantages of cloud computing, such as scalability, cost-effectiveness, and accessibility.

Workshop on Modern Day Digital Forensic

University Institute of Computing organized a workshop “Modern Day Digital Forensic” for students on 22 August 2022 in order to provide them better understanding over the topic of digital forensic science and it’s future. The expert speaker Dr. Nitesh Kr. Bhardwaj introduced the students with the topic and its relevance in the current digital scenario. In the workshop, real life-based examples were also discussed with the students. Moreover, the workshop has extended an opportunity to students to work in collaboration with the speaker in near future, as during the workshop, our expert speaker had invited our students to collaborate and work on real life examples to gain some hands-on experience in the same field.

Workshop on IOT

On 28th March 2023, the Professional Society at Chandigarh University organized an IoT Workshop aimed at introducing the students of UIC, to the world of Internet of Things (IoT). The workshop was held at the university's state-of-the-art IoT Lab, where the participants were provided with hands-on experience in designing and developing IoT-based systems. The workshop began with an introduction to IoT, its applications, and the various technologies that are used in its implementation. The participants were then introduced to various IoT devices and sensors and were given a brief on how to use them in real-world scenarios.

Expert Talk on Skilling in the areas of "Augmented and Virtual Reality

The University Institute of Computing organized an expert talk on the topic Skilling in the areas of "Augmented and Virtual Reality" for students of UIC on 21th Feb 2023. The expert speaker Dr. Sarwan Singh has more than 23 years of experience in field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Blockchain, Cloud computing, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Internet of Things (IoT). Dr. Sarwan Singh then started the session elaborating student regarding Augmented and Virtual Reality, its types and the difference between the two. He explained why Enterprise Level Brands Should Invest in Augmented Reality Apps, 8 Best Virtual Reality Apps in 2023 and Augmented Analytics in Data Science.

Expert Talk on Data Science Applications Using ML and DL Techniques

On April 12th, 2023, a highly anticipated expert talk on "Data Science Applications Using ML and DL Techniques" for the students of UIC. The chief guest was Dr. Asadi Srinivasulu, an accomplished data scientist with extensive experience in Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Dr. Srinivasulu holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and has worked in various industries, including healthcare, finance, and retail. The talk covered diverse topics related to Data Science, including Data Pre-processing, Feature Selection, Model Training and Evaluation. Dr. Srinivasulu shared his insights and experiences on the latest advancements in data science and how they can be applied to real-world scenario.

Expert Talk on Information Security Strategies

University Institute of Computing organized an expert talk on the topic “Information Security Strategies” for the students on 25th Feb 2023 in Online/Offline mode. The expert speaker Ms. Ananya Chatterjee has more than 12 years of experience in field of Cyber Security and ethical hacking. She has been working as a Scientist D in DRDO for the last decade. She discussed need of information security, from where our data gets breached and compromised, different level of threats in cyber, how to detect fraud using Kali Linux and other software. She also discussed about the job opportunities for our students in this area along with research scope, related conference, journals, courses available in market.

Workshop on Research Article and Research Project proposal writing

University Institute of Computing organized a workshop on the topic “Research Article and Research Project proposal writing” for students on 25th Feb 2023. The expert speaker Dr Mithilesh Kumar Dewangan has more than 10 years of experience in field of Research and Development in DRDO and has sound knowledge of how to write research article and project proposal. He is working as a Research Associate in TBRL (DRDO) Chandigarh. He explained to the student all the concept of research writing like why we should write research article, types of research articles, discussed about the types of Journal (Conventional, Open access, Hybrid) and which Journals are best, meaning of H-index, i-index, value of Google scholar account.

Keys to personal success

University Institute of Computing organized session “Keys to personal success” on March 31, 2023. This activity was focussed to promote student’s objective toward success in their life. Ms. Kanak Yadav, Life skill Trainer and counsellor, delivered a talk to the students about stepwise development of internal enthusiasm and also discussed some key elements to consider in life for success. This type of event enriched the students’ internal confidence and strengthen their route toward their objective. Students asked various doubt related to these key points.

APP-Mahotsav and Android Campus Fest 2022

UIC organised AppMahotsav and Android Campus Fest on December 17,2022 in collaboration with Google Developer Student Club (GDSC), Chandigarh University. The speaker of Event was Ms Loveleen Kaur, Android Engineer Astrotalk and Mr Sanju, Founder & CEO of THISUX who discussed the Android Application Development using JETPACK Composs. UIC 1st year students have participated in AppMahotsav and shown their talent in the form of Hardware and Software Projects.

CRYPTOGRAPHY-BOOTCAMP

University Institute of Computing organized an event named as CRYPTOGRAPHY-BOOTCAMP on 12TH April 2023 for students in order to provide them better understanding of unique thinking in Coding. This event introduces the fundamental concepts of cryptography. It covers the key terminology (algorithm, key, cipher and more) and common use cases for cryptography.

THE WEB CODE PLAY

University Institute of Computing organized an event named as THE WEB CODE PLAY on 24th Feb,2023 for students in order to provide them better understanding of unique thinking in Coding. In this event, real life- based domains had given to participants. And the participated student team has to develop the web application product for solving real life tasks.

AR/VR Equipment Demo Day’2023

University Institute of Computing organized an AR/VR equipment demo day where the students saw different types of AR/VR equipment in action. This event showcased the latest AR/VR technology and provided students with an inspiration for their own projects. Such events help the students to have an overview of AR/VR technology and also leads to the understanding of how AR/VR equipment can be used in different contexts thereby creating their own AR/VR applications and games.

International Faculty Exchange Program’ April 2023

An international faculty member Dr. RAMIL G. LUMAUAG from Iloilo Science and Technology University Philippines recently visited our University Institute of Computing to deliver a seminar on machine learning and algorithms, data analytics and image processing. The seminar was highly informative and provided valuable insights into the latest developments in these fields. He delivered his lectures to the students of Masters and Graduation program including the specialization students. He shared his valuable ideas for improving the curriculum and mentored the Research scholars.

NASA Space App Challenge 2019

University Institute of Computing in collaboration with NASA Space App Challenge 2019 organized the competition at Chandigarh University on 18, 19 & 20th of October 2019. Renowned scientists and freelance App Developers including students of Chandigarh University participates during the three-day NASA Space App Challenge and where they interact with the students through technological video sessions, apprising them about the latest developments in the emerging fields of space exploration & App development. 60 Teams from 30+ Universities and colleges participated in the three-day space app development competition where the participating teams have to develop Mobile Apps which can be used by the space scientist to explore the mysteries of the universe. The event was all about solving problem statement with a solution in the form of Application that will solve the problem for benefit of the society.

Fit India Plogging Run

On the account of Mahatma Gandhi 150th birth anniversary NSS wing organized an activity Fit India Plogging Run. The campaign aims to achieve the vision of a ‘Clean India’ by 2nd October 2019.

Road Safety Week Village

NSS unit of Chandigarh University celebrated thirty first Road Safety Week from 11 January to the 17 January 2019. Commuters are explained the methods and the necessities of road safety.

Hiking Camp

10 days hiking camp for students of UIC was organized 4th March to 14th March to Manali. They performed a variety of activities like water rafting, trekking, snow scooters, hot air ballooning, paragliding, rock climbing, skiing, zorbing and also nature study, meditation sessions, cultural introduction.

Woolen Clothes Donation Camp

UIC student volunteers along with the faculty coordinator set off a donation drive “Sauhard-Warmth of your love and Concern to Society” on 16/01/2020 for underprivileged & elderly people. Firstly collection drive was done in the department and then collection done from the nearby village, so as poor people can benefit from the old jackets, scarves, shawls, socks and shoes.

E-Banking Awareness

To promote the e-payments, UIC had organized an E Banking awareness workshop for the people of nearby villages. A complete demonstration of various e-payment applications such as BHIM, Paytm, Google Pay etc, was done by the faculty of UIC. The Outcome of this workshop is to enhance the knowledge of E-Banking.

Independence Day Celebration - 2019

It was a red letter day in the history of India when the country got her freedom on August 15, 1947. It took hundreds of years for us to break shackles of slavery. UIC celebrated this day with much fervour. Along with pa paying tribute to martyrs, student committees have organized a host of activities to commemorate the day.

International Yoga Day - 2020

To take a step towards being fitter by performing yoga asanas and encourage the people to fight against Pandemic of Corona Virus, University Institute of Computing has organized an Virtual Yoga on the Theme “Yoga for Health – Yoga at Home”. Regular practice of yoga will surely help an individual to achieve a better life, physically, mentally and spiritually as well. There was great enthusiasm shown by everyone to make the event a grand success.

Tree Plantation Drive on World Environment Day - 2020

In order to sensitize students towards the need to preserve our environment and ecology, University institute of Computing has organized a tree plantation drive by planting saplings at their homes or surrounding areas in different parts of the country due to the pandemic. The greenery around us provided by trees makes us live a healthy and pleasant life as planting trees is vital to maintain a balance in the ecosystem.

In Track 1:- Keynote Address and Session Chair by Dr. Neeraj Nehra , Associate Professor, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology ,Patiala. Ms. Khyati Srivastava , VNIT, Nagpur was given “Best Paper Award”. In all, out of 22 Papers, 10 papers were there for presentation in the track.
